dramatic production DEPARTMENT

Students who wish to develop their talents as a playwright can find a home in the APA Dramatic Production program. Each student will write at least 5 plays a year. The class selects plays for production and students who are directors interview to direct the plays. Open auditions are held for the casts. The productions are showcased in the "10 Minute Play Festival" in winter and the "One Act Play Festival" in May. Outside judges are brought in to critique the plays and select award recipients for each festival. Through the Dramatic Production course, playwrights and directors have staged over 250 original student plays. Also offered is an "Advanced Dramatic Production" option for weighted credit, which includes more intense academic assignments.
